OLD TOWN – Join us in Riverfront Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 for an evening concert with The Crown Vics.
The Crown Vics are Maine’s premier rockabilly dance band who appeal to revelers of all ages. Although the act is rooted in the American tradition of rock’n’roll, country and swing, The Crown Vics fearlessly deliver classic rock, indie pop and contemporary hits. The band members are Drew Myers – Vocals; Frank Schwartz – Guitar; Steve Peer – Drums; Gordo Fellis – Bass; Jen Myers – Vocals; and Sabrina Wirey – Vocals.
The Crown Vics cut their teeth in the music venues from Portland to Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as New England ski resorts and casinos. The band quickly learned the value of engaging with a crowd and is very skilled in lying back when necessary and ramping it up when the audience wants to celebrate. With their gung-ho spirit, short and to the point songs (with hardly a breath between numbers), the band causes quite a hullabaloo when they take the stage.
Playing traditional rockabilly in a style that honors the era of Carl Perkins and Scotty Moore, The Crown Vics tear it up with new energy and enthusiasm. Each member allows their own musical persuasions, and over 100 years of combined showbiz experience to shape the presentation of The Crown Vics. There are elements of reggae, ‘60’s Brit pop, and indie-alt that help make either a dramatic or comedic musical point. Yeah, you guessed it, The Vics are serious about the music and doing a first-rate show, however the guys don’t take themselves too seriously. It is all about having fun with fans and friends and making every show a good time and better than the last show.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to spend a summer evening with family and friends, in beautiful Riverfront Park, listening to an amazing band! If it rains, the concert will be held at the Old Town Public Library; but we are counting on having beautiful weather, so bring your lawn chair or blanket, and meet us in the park!
The Summer Concert Series is hosted by the Old Town Public Library, and sponsored by the City of Old Town, and the generous concert attendees who put their bills and coins in the donation jar each concert night. We thank you all for your support!
