A new master plan for the city’s airport is nearing completion, with some changes to be recommended at DeWitt Field.

Irving Deck, a consultant with StanTek, which does master planning for airports, updated the council last week on that company’s work on the plan. The current master plan for the airport is a dozen years old and has outlived its useful life.
Deck said the new plan will look at both short and long-term needs over the next 20 years at DeWitt Field. The plan will assess such issues as safety and capacity. It will assist in ensuring the airport remains eligible for funding from the state and federal government.
