Highway paving begins Sept. 14

OLD TOWN, Maine — The Maine Department of Transportation will pave the on- and off-ramps at two southbound exits along I-95 beginning next week, the DOT announced Thursday morning.

Ramps will be closed for paving at exits 217 and 227 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Monday, Sept. 14, and Friday, Sept. 18.

The work is part of a larger DOT project on I-95 that begins around Medway and ends in Old Town at the Kirkland Bridge. The agency said message boards are already in place to alert motorists ahead of time, and the project is dependent on suitable weather conditions.

Northeast Paving of Bangor is the project contractor and the current contract amount is  $9,528,659.
