Old Town Municipal Airport and Seaplane Base -- DeWitt Field -- has been a hub of development activity recently. The 360-acre site includes two runways that were reconstructed in 2015-16; ten buildings, with three more in various stages of construction; a recently renovated terminal; a new beacon; and a commercial area along the access road featuring two businesses and another getting ready to move in.

It works like this: Anyone who gets a ticket for parking illegally in the city, including violations of overnight restrictions, parking in a fire lane, blocking sidewalks or fire hydrants etc., has the option of paying the $20 fine or bringing in $10 worth of food, which in turn is donated to local schools and charities.

If you’re keeping track, the Red Riots’ victory in the Class C race at Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland on Nov. 2 was their third state title in a row and sixth in the last eight years. That’s a dynasty with a capital D in any sport.

Ryan Bjorn didn’t play football while attending Old Town High School in the early 2000s, so he never dreamed back then he’d someday be working closely with the New England Patriots. Bjorn, 34, found out life can take some unexpected turns en route to his new position as field superintendent at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., home of the defending NFL champions.

Emera Maine work crews have restored power to all customers who lost power in the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 windstorm  in the Old Town-Orono area, according to its website on Monday morning.

An Old Town native whose basketball roots can be traced to his grandfather, Don Sturgeon, an All-State player at Old Town High in the 1950s and a star for the University of Maine, Garrett Libby is the son of Janelle Sturgeon Libby and Matthew Libby.
