Construction begins on I-95 between Old Town and Carmel

OLD TOWN, Maine — Construction on a year-long project along Interstate 95 between Old Town and Carmel began Monday, Aug. 23, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

Crews will be paving lanes, doing bridge and safety work on the stretch of highway from now until 2021.

The project will involve nightly lane closures and ramp closures with detours, the agency said. It plans to suspend work for the winter beginning Nov. 13 and resume later.

The project contract amount is $12,750,343 and the contractor is Pike Industries of Fairfield.
