Dunkin’ store to open in former Tim Hortons Old Town location

This story may be updated.

The former Tim Hortons location in Old Town that closed last year will become a new Dunkin’ store on Stillwater Avenue.

A local and independent Dunkin’ franchise owner-operator purchased the property at 975 Stillwater Ave., the Dunkin’ Brand confirmed last week.

The roughly one-acre property was purchased by Ardent Ventures LLC, a company based in Acton, Massachusetts, according to city of Old Town records.

The site was previously owned by Triple L Investors LLC, which had leased the property to Tim Hortons. The restaurant abruptly closed in April 2019 — less than two weeks after shutting down its Newport location.

Ardent Ventures LLC purchased the site from the company in March.

Stillwater Avenue is already home to two Dunkin’ stores — one near the Old Town Elementary School and a second before Interstate 95. It is not yet known when the new store is expected to open, although remodeling construction has begun on the property.

Code Enforcement Officer David Russell didn’t have a project opening date for the store but estimated it will be sometime next spring due to the amount of remodeling needed.
