Bradley man injured in crash that closed I-95 in Orono for two hours

A 19-year-old man from Bradley was seriously injured Monday afternoon after the car he was driving south on Interstate 95 in Orono lost control, went into the median, rolled over and struck some trees.

After the crash was reported at 12:45 p.m., Alexander Littlefield was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center by a LifeFlight helicopter, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

A hospital spokeswoman said that she had no information about Littlefield’s condition.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed in Orono for about two hours after the crash, in part to allow for the helicopter to land on the interstate.

The crash happened between the I-95 exits onto Stillwater Avenue and Kelley Road, roughly a mile-and-a-half north of Kelley Road.

After the crash, southbound drivers were detoured off the interstate at Stillwater Avenue during the highway closure. Maine State Troopers are still investigating what caused the crash.
