Orono police log for Aug. 2-8, 2020

ORONO, Maine — The Orono police log for the week of Aug. 2-8 included the following.

Around 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 3, Officers Courtney James and Chase Bossee arrested two people in a dispute at the Circle K parking lot. A witness flagged down an officer on patrol nearby to report that Stephanie Coutu, 26, of Orono, was allegedly hitting and pushing her boyfriend, Adam King, 26, also from Orono. While police were attempting to arrest Coutu for domestic violence/assault, King allegedly tried to interfere. Bossee tackled King to the ground and arrested him for not complying, according to the report. Both King and Coutu were taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released after making an initial court appearance. King is due again in court Sept. 24 and Coutu’s court date was not known at the time.

Around 4 a.m. on Aug. 4, Officer Kyle Adams arrested Andrew Petherick, 21, of Orono for domestic violence/assault after his girlfriend apparently called police to report that he had struck her in the face multiple times when she picked him up from the Avenue apartment complex. Petherick was arrested and taken to jail where he was later released. He’s due in court Aug. 20.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 4, Officer Peter Wentworth issued a summons for criminal mischief to Anthony Dickinson, 26, who doesn’t have a permanent address. Someone had reported to police earlier that night that Dickinson allegedly threw a rock through their apartment and was staying in a baseball dugout on Park Street. Wentworth met with Dickinson — who was intoxicated at the time, according to the report. Three days later around 3 a.m., Dickinson received a summons for theft after he was caught on camera allegedly stealing a bottle of wine from Circle K. He is expected to appear in court for both charges Sept. 24.
