Orono students to return to school this week after multiple COVID-19 cases
ORONO, Maine — Orono High School students are expected to return to in-person instruction Friday, Dec. 18, following a temporary closure due to positive cases of COVID-19.
The school saw its first positive case Nov. 30 and moved to full remote learning after discovering a fifth case on Dec. 10. It appears that none of the cases occurred due to exposure at school at this time, RSU 26 Superintendent Meredith Higgins said.
Four of the five individuals who tested positive are among the high school. An individual on one of the school buses also contracted the virus.
A total of 90 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Orono as of Dec. 6, according to data from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
