Squirrel damages transformer, causes power outages in Old Town and Orono
OLD TOWN, Maine — More than 2,100 households in Old Town and Orono temporarily lost power Monday morning after a squirrel caused “extensive damage” to a transformer, according to Versant Power.
Power was restored to a majority of households as of 11:15 a.m.
Crews are currently working to replace the damaged transformer on Spring Street in Old Town. The replacement is expected to take about one hour, company spokesperson Judy Long said.
