Minor rooftop fire at upcoming Old Town venue brings in surrounding fire crews, disrupts traffic

OLD TOWN, Maine — A minor fire on the rooftop at 283 Main St. brought nearby first responders to Old Town Friday morning.

Old Town Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Baker said that fire caught onto the insulation and damaged some roofing material. It was reported shortly before 11 a.m. and was extinguished quickly, Baker said.

The fire was contained to the rooftop and did not cause any structural damage to the rest of the building.

Waterfront Concerts Promoter Alex Gray has been steadily transforming the building into a new downtown music venue and restaurant throughout the last few years.
